The newest local of the neighborhood: David! On a sunny Saturday in one of the oldest neighborhoods in Istanbul, Yeldeğirmeni, we hacked a wall by mounting a 3D printed David sculpture on it. The special thing about this project is that it was the first urban hack we did during pandemic; so we had to put a mask on David!
We modified the 3D model whose designer is SMK – Statens Museum for Kunst by putting a mask on his mouth to encourage locals and visitors to wear masks . We 3D printed two versions of David, and placed one on top of a bollard and the other one onto a wall.
Our objective was to raise awareness on the importance of wearing masks during pandemic. We were also thrilled to be back on the streets after a really long time.
We would like to thank 3Dörtgen for supporting us with production, to Cem (@chaosjam) for the amazing modification, and to Yeldeğirmeni locals for protecting the Davids!
