For a long time, transformer buildings, which repeat themselves in various parts of cities and take a place in urban memory, have caught our attention as potential intervention areas. Through a social partnership we established with Enerjisa, one of Turkey’s largest energy distribution companies, we transformed a transformer building in Ataşehir using 3D printing and augmented reality technologies into a space for raising awareness.

We develop creative projects for the sustainability journeys of many local and international brands. This time, we collaborated with Enerjisa, one of Turkey’s largest energy companies, for their ‘A Better Future’ campaign. We started transforming power transformer buildings that recur at various points of the city. Our first application was on the transformer in İstanbul, Ataşehir.

With the augmented reality application, the electrical box that starts to animate by drawing power from the transformer building transforms into a robot. Each arm of the robot highlights different environmental concerns such as renewable energy, recycling, and repair.

We worked a total of 750 hours for the project, and five different 3D printers produced the design’s 3D models over the course of 95 hours.
